Disneyland's Great - But So Is...

A load of other travel destinations we're going to share wih you.

Remember when you were a kid and you your parents loaded you into the car, train or plane for a wonderful adventure? It didn't matter if you were just going across the country to visit your Grandma or seeing the ocean for the very first time. It was something different. We wish to bring back those feelings of adventure and explore vacation getaways with you that will leave you and the family with great memories.

Our first post, then, will be from our sister site, www.thetravelerscompanion.com , with a couple vacation ideas that probably slipped your mind.

Traveling With Children: Not Orlando Again

Are you the type of parent who gets a sudden twinge when you hear the words “Disneyland” “Disney World” and the dreaded “Orlando.” Don’t get me wrong. I love Disneyland and Disney World. But, not every vacation. So, where else can parents go that suits them and their kids?

Bahamas

How about a trip to the Bahamas with your kids? That’s right, you don’t have to give up a trip to the Bahamas because you have children. In the middle of downtown Nassau, for example, your children can step back in time and board the pirate ship “Revenge” for a face-off with Blackbeard and his band of ner do wells.

The older children might enjoy a trek into the ocean on a banana boat, guided by expert drivers who insist all passengers wear a life jacket. A tamer ocean excursion might include a glass bottom boat where you and your family can observe ocean life up close. At night, you and your children are sure to enjoy one of the many fish fries with bonfires. Who knows, one of the local fire eaters might show up to add an even greater thrill to the evening.

Europa Park, Germany

Do you and your children love roller coasters? (Yep, roller coasters aren’t just for children) Perhaps a trip to Rust, Germany is in order. Europa Park, Germany’s largest theme park, has bragging rights for the largest roller coaster in Europe, the Silver Star. standing 229 feet tall, this thrill ride features a massive 219-foot initial drop, and races along the 5,315 feet of steel track at speeds reaching 80 mph.

After you’ve recovered from the Silver Star, be sure to take in all the incredible attractions of Europa Park. The theme is the countries of Europe, so in one day you and your family can travel to Spain, Greece, even the North Cape. With over 100 rides there’s something for the whole family. Hey, there’s even a gladiator stunt show. And, when choosing a hotel in the area, you have many choices among the themed hotels at the park. There, you’ve just added two new destinations to your family-friendly list. So, pick one and enjoy your trip!
